Kim Petty (Studio 3C7)
Kim Petty grew up in Dallas, Texas. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of North Texas, her focus was on painting and drawing. While at UNT, she also thoroughly studied printmaking and jewelry and metalworking. After graduating, she lived in Japan for three years and traveled extensively in Asia, which greatly influenced her art.
During this time, she continued to pursue art, doing printmaking, photography, and partnering with two local Japanese artists to create silver, gold and platinum cast rings and pendants for their jewelry line, Kura.
After returning to Dallas, she is continuing her art career, focusing on creating abstract and landscape paintings in oil and watercolor. She is also experimenting with mixed media, pastels and charcoal on surfaces from handmade paper to cradled birch panels.
