Julie Shunick Brown is an expressionistic painter exploring color and spatial relationships and the reality not seen visually.  Working primarily in acrylic, she employs a variety of media.   Usually nonrepresentational, they suggest places, memories, and emotions.

Julie's paintings convey a sense of timelessness. Textural variation and fluid brushwork create movement and feeling. Absorbing what occurs around her by slowing to observe and connecting with people, events, and places enables her to represent life on her substrate. Searching for calm in the chaos of living, she experiments with materials and methods and her work changes, evolving, evoking life itself.

A native of Nevada, Julie began painting as a child. Growing up near Washington, D.C.,  she studied at The Corcoran School of Art.  Graduating with honors from Arizona State University with a B.F.A. in Interior Design, she continued to study painting and drawing.   In 2013,  Julie returned to painting full time.

You can find her most days at her studio in the historic Continental Gin Building in Deep Ellum, Dallas.  Her paintings can be found in private collections throughout the U.S.
